George D. Burns, 81, Dies in Stockton Hospital
George D. Burns, 81, of Rt. 1, Box 305, Lodi, died yesterday morning in a Stockton hospital after an extended illness.
A native of Clarksville, Tex., he grew up there and came to Lodi in 1940. He worked in this area for the Micke farms as a laborer before retiring.
He is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Verna Midgley and Mrs. Edith Cochran, both of Lodi, Mrs. Louise Burdue of Newark and Mrs. Elsie Crofford of Christine, Tex.; one son, Sylvan Burns of Lakeview, Ore.; one brother, Willie Burns of St. Helena, 19 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday in the Lodi Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Marvin Brand of the First Southern Baptist Church of Clements officiating. Interment will be in Glen View Cemetery in Clements.
