ARMS Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com Paul Burton Arms passed away peacefully Christmas Day at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida. He was born December 10, 1929 to Ethel (Pittman) and Roy Arms in Columbus, North Carolina. Mr. Arms spent his youth in Greer, SC. He was drafted into the Army in 1951, and served as an artillery scout in the Korean War. In 1955, he married Thelma Brookshire Peace in Jacksonville, Florida, and they had two children. He began a long career at Rowland Powertrain. Thelma predeceased him in 1976. Paul married Gayle Wyndham Boyd in 1979. They spent many happy years in Jacksonville and Keystone Heights, enjoying their family, welcoming grandchildren and great grandchildren, and traveling after retirement. He was a member of Fruit Cove Baptist Church and attended the Unity Sunday School class. In his younger years, he enjoyed nature and fishing and boating. He relished lively conversation, and was well-known for his quick wit and wry humor. He adored his little white dog Benji. He is survived by his wife Gayle, children Stephen Arms (Cecilia), of Jacksonville and Paula Arms (Russell Funk) of Castle Rock, Washington, stepchildren David Boyd (Kathy) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Robert Boyd (Marie)' of Jacksonville, and Rebecca Cullen (William), of Jacksonville. His beloved grandchildren include Jason, Eric, and Ruben; Angela; Austin and Colin; Cara and Haley, and great grandchildren, Ethan and Briana. A stepdaughter, Laurel Stephens of Spartanburg, SC predeceased him, as did five of his brothers and sisters. A sister, Ruby Scoggins survives him in Greer, SC, along with many in-laws, cousins, and nieces and nephews. There will be a viewing Tuesday, December 31 at 11:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service at Noon at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. Immediately after the service there will be a reception at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Jacksonville Memory Gardens at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mission Fund, Fruit Cove Baptist Church, 501 State Road 13, Jacksonville, FL 32259 or Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
