Walter E. (Ed) Albertson, long time Stockton real estate and insurance man, died yesterday in a local rest home after a long illness. He was 83. Mr. Albertson, a native of Redding, started in the real estate and insurance business here in 1910. He retired from that field some years ago, but remained active in ranching in the Manteca area and in Placer County until about seven years ago. He and his wife, the former Edna Putnam, member of a pioneer San Joaquin County family, lived here at 84 W. Park.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Barbara Dunlap of Stockton and Natilee Russell of Carmel, and three grandchildren.
Mr. Albertson was an active backer of development of the Port of Stockton, and also was active in bond sales during World War I. He was a member of the Commonwealth Club of San Francisco and the Delta Lodge of Masons.
