FROSTBURG — Hilary W. Brode Sr., 82, of 254 Centennial Street, died Tuesday at his residence. Born Feb. 3, 1911 in Frostburg, he was the son of the late John and Ann (Storey) Brode. Mr. Brode was retired from Charlton Brothers Company, maintenance department. An Air Force veteran of WWII, he attended the Salem United Church of Christ and was a nine-year volunteer at the Frostburg Village Nursing Home. Surviving are his wife, Gertrude (Smith) Brode; a son, Hilary W. Brode Jr. and wife Angela of Alexandria, Va.; a sister, Mae Pape of Eckhart, and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Wednesday and Thursday. Services will be conducted there on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. T. William Preston officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Richard Pappas, Bernard LaRue, Carl Pape, Raymond Wright, Herbert Smith and Keith Harper.
