Collen Austin Adams, 83 of North East, MD, died Thursday, April 1, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lansing, NC, on November 29, 1926, he was the son of the late Charley and the late Rettie Powers Adams. Mr. Adams was the beloved husband of Helen E. Burton Adams of North East, MD. He worked for the B & O Railroad and in maintenance at North East Elementary School and for the Maryland State Highway Dept. He joined New Bridge Regular Baptist Church, Colora, MD in 1956 and served as clerk, trustee and caretaker. He enjoyed gardening and church activities, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. In addition to his loving wife, survivors include: his children: Carol V. England and her husband Curtis of North East, MD and Clay C. Adams of Sterling, VA; two grandchildren: Cher England Appleby and Darryl England; 5 great grandchildren: Vaughn, Nathan, Wyatt, Evan and Wade and 1 brother: Charles S. Adams of Port Deposit, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD on Monday, April 5, 2010 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 AM before the services. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Homer Hanson and Rev. Fred Wyatt will be held Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Crouch Funeral Home. Interment will follow in New Bridge Regular Baptist Church Cemetery.
