ASA L. BROWN
Funeral services for Asa L. Brown, 82, of Haines, Or., will be conducted in the Riverview cemetery chapel here at 3 P.M. Wednesday by Rev. John Richardson of the Grace Memorial church. The only son of the late Albert H. Brown, pioneer merchant and former state treasurer, Brown died early Sunday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Henrietta Borton, at Baker, Or. He was born in Auburn, Or., April 16, 1864. He married Mary Catherine Benson on March 25, 1891. The couple settled west of Haines near Rock Creek, where Brown had cleared land and developed a 640-acre farm. He was a member of the St. Stephen's Episcopal church and was active in civic affairs in Haines. Survivors include a sister, Ella L. Brown, Portland; seven children, Albert L. Brown, Portland; Frances B. Coleman and Marjorie B. Lohrenz, Tigard; Rutherford A. Brown, Santa Monica, Cal.; Gertrude C. Palmer, Seattle; Henrietta Borton, Baker; Virginia L. Moser, La Grande, 23 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
