Politician, Writer. Member of the Puerto Rico House of Representatives in 1904 and served in the Senate of Puerto Rico between 1917-1920. First President of the Puerto Rican Academy of History, served as the official historian of Puerto Rico until his death. He wrote for several magazines and newspapers and founded La Linterna, a magazine that was censored by the government. In his later years he wrote several books and continued to have his writing published in newspapers and magazines. There is a school named after him in San Germán, Puerto Rico.
