**NEW NOTE: As shown, headstone does exist. I'm not sure why this info was first reported as no headstone but will make notation if I can resolve. Thanks go to FAG Member Deana Hickman for resolving this issue.

*NOTE: I have the record where military marker was ordered and received but marker is not installed as reported here:

No Military Stone Found at Eventide 14 Lot 134 Space 4 for Charles Hudson this is the Location - as per Karen Lovey on FAG 8-23-15

BIO: by Karla Todd Sherer

"Brookside Memorial Records" show name as Charles H Hudson instead of Charles W and this is incorrect. According to many records including Baptism by his parents, his name is Charles Wharton. This is the burial site of Charles Wharton Hudson as per an order for a military headstone which was never set.

Baptized as a baby at St. Mary Episcopal Church, St. Mary Pa., Louisiana, vas Charles Wharton on 23 Jan 1873, he is the son of Francis Benjamin and Mary Agnes Moore Hudson. Born and raised on Bayou Salle - later spelled Bayou Sale, Charles grew up with a large family in the sugar planting business. He had 8 full siblings and 3 half siblings and 2 step sisters. They are:

Charles would later convert to Catholicism and was baptized in that faith on 16 Apr 1892, at Assumption Catholic Church in Franklin, St. Mary Pa., Louisiana.

In 1900, Charles was working on his family's South Bend sugar plantation as a "Cooper" making the strong Cypress barrels used for shipping the raw sugar by boat, to New Orleans to be sold. The sugar was shipped via the Intracoastal Canal which borders Bayou Sale.

Charles served in the Army - Company F, Louisiana Infantry Volunteers. In 1909, Charles married Nellie Langdon and they lived in Lake Charles, LA. They had two girls and they are:

Clydia Hudson - 1911 - 2005
Wyona Hudson - 1915 - 1999

Charles and Nellie would later divorce. He then married Pluma Mae Padfield, Buhler, around 1939 - 1940 in Houston, TX when no TX Marriage records were in database shared online. Pluma and Charles, along with her 2 sons and 1 daughter by previous marriage, are shown to be living in Houston, TX on the 1940 Census and Charles who was older than Pluma, had retired but is working part time. He is employed as a Policeman for City of Houston Police Dept. at that time. Statewide Death Record shows Charles died in Rapides Parish, LA where he had lived previously but that is in question and is still being researched. Pluma married twice more after Charles died and she's buried in Madisonville, TX. Charles is a half brother to my grandfather. That makes him my half great uncle.

My uncle Charles, gone but never forgotten....
