Ada "Aileen" Brewer Shrum, 90, of Amarillo, died on Dec. 25, 2013 in Amarillo, Texas.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, Dec. 27, at 1 p.m. in Mountain Park Cemetery, in Mountain Park, Okla. The Rev. Billie Brewer will officiate. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St., Amarillo.

Aileen was born in 1923 at Ipswich, England, the daughter of the late Albert and Mabel Smith. She completed high school in Ipswich and was pursuing a career as a pharmacist when World War II broke out in England. She met a young American, Master Sgt. Billie B. Brewer, and they were married in April 1944.

In 1947, Aileen and their oldest son boarded the Queen Mary and traveled to the United States of America to join her husband in Oklahoma where she and Billie raised three boys — Billie, who was born in 1945; Terry, who was born in 1947; and Wayne, who was born in 1949.

She delighted reaching out to others, helping friends and neighbors in any way she could. She was involved in her community, volunteering her time and serving on various boards throughout her life. She was an active member of the First Methodist Church in Mountain Park, Okla.

Aileen loved flowers and tending to her garden, but her true joy came from her family. She delighted in her sons, daughters-in-law and her precious grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Wayne; her first husband, Billie Brewer; and her second husband, Glen Shrum.

Aileen is survived by her sister, Joy Boast of Ipswich, England; her son, Billie Gene Brewer; daughter-in-law Sue Brewer; grandson William Shane Brewer and wife, Shanna; her great- grandchildren, William Grady Brewer, Holland-Rae Aileen Brewer and Lydia Gene Brewer; her son, Terry James Brewer; daughter-in- law Edith Brewer; her grandson, Billie B. Brewer; and her nephew, B.J. Messick and his wife, JoAnn.

The family suggests that memorials, in lieu of flowers be made to The Craig Retirement Community, 5500 SW 9th Ave, Amarillo, Texas 79109 or BSA Hospice, c/o the Don and Sybil Harrington Foundation, 1600 Wallace Blvd, Amarillo, Texas 79106
