Miss Barbara L. Kuhn, 23, New Oxford R. 1, Is Killed When Cycle Hits Sweeper
[Front Page]

Miss Barbara Louise Kuhn, 23, New Oxford R. 1, was killed Saturday night when her motorcycle struck a road sweeper machine three miles from her home. Her body was found 30 feet off the road Sunday morning at 9:15 o’clock.
Those who discovered her summoned an ambulance and she was removed to the Hanover Hospital where it was determined that death had occurred some hours before and Dr. Crist was summoned. Her wrist watch had broken and was stopped at 8:45 o’clock indicating the accident may have occurred at that time Saturday night.
VISITED FRIENDS
Miss Kuhn had visited friends in Hanover Saturday evening and was apparently on her way to her home south of New Oxford when the accident occurred on a road newly completed and opened about three weeks ago near the entrance to the Bethlehem Stone Quarries about 1½ miles north of McSherrystown.
State police estimated damage to her motorcycle at $100. They said she had apparently lost control on a curve and the vehicle left the highway and struck the parked road sweeper.
She was a native of Adams County, a daughter of Edward H. and Anna G. (Risesr) Kuhn, New Oxford R. 1.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Oxford, and was employed at the Middleburg Manufacturing Co., Hanover.
FUNERAL WEDNESDAY
Surviving are her parents; her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Clara Kuhn, New Oxford, and 10 brothers and sisters: Edward W. Kuhn, Donald F. Kuhn, Bernard J. Kuhn, John H. Kuhn and Mrs. Albert L. Eckenrode all of New Oxford R. 1, and Linda K., Robert P., Jane M., James L. and Joseph R. Kuhn, all at home.
Funeral services Wednesday morning, with meeting at the Fred F. Feiser Funeral Home, New Oxford, at 8:15 o’clock to go to St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church, New Oxford, for the Requiem Mass at 9 o’clock at which Fr. Alexis Arnoldin will officiate. Interment in the church cemetery. Prayers will be recited Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock at the funeral home.
