Robert was a veteran of C.S.A. After Robert returned from Civil War, he purchased land in Tippah County Mississippi in the Antioch community near Ripley, Mississippi. He farmed there until 1888 when he sold his property to John Y. Murray, M.D. and moved his family to Tipton County, Tennessee near Covington. He remained there until his death. He and Louisa Westbrook lived to be a ripe old age having long white whiskers and long curly hair.
