After beeing well, he worked as a serviceman in various places in Norway. According to the Census from 1910, his residence was Varø, Herøsund Kvinnhered.
Later he worked at Golta, Sund municipality, where he met his wife. They married in Nykirken, Bergen on 28/5-1912, and later settled in Telavåg, Sund municipality, where his wife came from. He was a fisherman.
During the second world war, he was a prisoner of war, and transported to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, Germany (1942). He was there until the war's end, and rescued by the mission of the Swedish white buses. He then weighed 49 kilos.
