Robert Orr, 91, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013 in the same house where he was born on January 1, 1922.
Robert was the son of the late William Calvin and Mattie (Petty) Orr. He attended Mertens schools, Hill College and graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering and a Masters in Physics.
During World War II, he served his country in the United States Navy. Following the war Robert worked as a geophysicist for 39 years for Shell Oil Company in Houston. He married Kathleen Conner on November 12, 1949.
After his retirement, he and Kathleen moved back to the family farm. He was a member of the Brandon Presbyterian Church in Brandon.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Kathleen Orr; three children, Bonnie Orr and Polly Orr and Bruce Orr; nine grand children and one great-grand child.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2013, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro.
