Mrs. Malinda Dufrain/Dufrin (The spelling of the surname continued to change through generations... original spelling Dufresne), a resident of Garden City since 1906, died Sunday, 4 June 1939 of a heart ailment at her home, 309 West Santa Fe. She had been in poor health for 6 years.

Funeral services were held 6 June 1939 at the Wiley funeral home and burial at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

She was born in Saint Anne, Kankakee County, Illinois on 5 Oct 1871 and came to Clay County, Kansas with her parents, Eli Landry and Eliza Allain Landry, when she was 6 months old. She was married 24 Feb 1890 to Edward C. Dufrain (Dufrin), who died in 1932. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Twelve children who survived her are Mrs. Della McDoulett of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Mrs. Lottie Torey of Hutchinson, Kansas; Mrs. Edna Elwick of Wichita, Kansas; Mrs. Ada West of Kansas City, Missouri; Mrs. Marie Beatty of Johnson, Kansas; Mrs. Emma Becquet of Garden City, Kansas; David Dufrain of Hudson, Kansas; Wallace Dufrain of San Lorenzo, California; Walter Dufrain of Levelland, Texas; Louis, Earnest and Harry Dufrain, all of Garden City, Kansas. Other survivors were 3 sisters and 1 brother, Mrs. Della Eversoll of Middle Water, Texas; Mrs. Rosella Geist of Kansas City, Missouri; Mrs. Angeline Roy of Garden City, Kansas and Ben Landry of Kansas City, Missouri. She had 20 grandchildren.
