Bart was a veteran of the Vietnam War and retired after eighteen years of service to the United States Air Force. He worked as a salesman and greatly enjoyed farming.
He was an avid genealogist and has an extensive collection of family history. He was a member of the White River Masonic Lodge #332 F. & A.M., and Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rites.
He is survived by : Wife, Erma of Shoals; Two sons: Bret Dye of Franklin, TN John Richard Dye of Indianapolis; Eight grandchildren: Danielle Dye, Michaila Dye, Gabrielle Dye, Sarah Lowery, John Lowery, Gabriel Dixon, Keagan Mathews and Kyndall Mathews. Step-son, Nathan Lowery of Bedford Step-daughter, Kara Mathews of Oolitic.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Queen-Lee Funeral Home in Shoals.
White River Masonic Lodge #332 F.& A.M. will conduct a memorial service prior to the service.
Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest next to his parents in Spring Hill Cemetery. Shoals American Legion Post #61 will accord military graveside rites. Condolences may be made online to the family at www.queenlee.com
