Thelma "Nana" F. Kester, 85, formerly of Sedalia, died in Tipton Oak Manor on Tuesday, November 9, 2010. She was born May 30, 1925, the daughter of Edward A. and Dorris (Woodworth) Long. Thelma and James Kester were united in marriage on July 7, 1945. James preceded her in death on March 20, 2007.

Thelma was raised a farm girl. She enjoyed her upbringing and could out work her brothers. Thelma enjoyed being outdoors much more than being inside.

Thelma worked for Lamy Manufacturing for more than 20 years. She also worked as a Nurse's Aid and Ward Secretary at the Medical Center of Independence. Her real job was taking care of Jim and being the loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend she was known for. Her family and friends were most important to her.

Thelma was diagnosed with and suffered from Alzheimer's Disease for more than 15 years, although her loving and caring attitude never diminished....
