Our wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Orval Ivan Wilson, 95, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2013.

Born October 7, 1918 in Payson, the second child of Ivan Henry and Agnes Steiner Wilson.

He married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Carlisle, on June 21, 1939 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were together for seventy years until her passing in June 2009.

He worked at Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, California for three years before proudly serving his country in the Army's 7th Mechanized Cavalry Reconnaissance Troop, Asia/Pacific Campaign from 1943-1946. After his return, they moved to Salt Lake City, where he worked for Freed Motors and later as a Salt Lake City Police Officer from 1950-1983.

He was an active member of the LDS Church and loved the missionary program, financially supporting many missionaries over the years. His family was his greatest love. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and repairing anything with an engine.

He is survived by daughters, Margaret Ann Merkley (Jay) of Pocatello, Idaho; Glenda Burton (Jerald) of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Carol Morgan (John) of Salt Lake City, Utah; eleven grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and brother Jay (Pat) Wilson of Tooele, Utah. Preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters, Norma White, lona Perkins, Erma Horton, and Joie Peterson; and brothers, Thomas Wilson and Wayne Wilson.
