Ruth and Curtis raised their family in Pasadena, California, later moving to Azusa and Arcadia and then making their home in Desert Hot Springs for several years before Curtis' death in 1993. During her working years, she was employed as a bookkeeper for Nash's Department Stores, Green Electric, The Boy Scouts of America, and Las Encinas Hospital. In 1994 Ruth moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota, the home of her son Michael and his family.
Ruth was a member of Hill Avenue Grace Lutheran Church in Pasadena for many years, and after moving to Grand Forks, became a member of Sharon Lutheran Church and the Golden Ages Club. She was also very active in the Grand Forks Senior Center, where she spent many happy hours singing and was recognized for service to the organization and the community. She also enjoyed her membership in the Sons of Norway.
Ruth enjoyed the company of others and had many good friends throughout her life. She loved music, both singing and playing the piano, and spent many years camping and waterskiing throughout the western U.S. After moving to Grand Forks, she had many happy trips and cruises with her sisters, literally visiting every corner of the globe, and she became a devoted fan of Grand Forks Central athletic teams. She enjoyed being able to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and had many good friends in Parkview, her senior apartment complex, before moving to Northwood Deaconess Health Center in July 2010.
Ruth is survived by her children, Mike and David; cousin Jeanne Parker, four grand-children, five great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins who were very special to her. Preceding her in death was her husband Curtis, her twin sister Naomi, her brothers Robert and Jack, sister Maureen, cousin LaVonne, the aunt and uncle who raised her, and her parents.
Ruth was beloved by her family and friends and will be dearly missed.
Services and burial will be held at Desert Memorial Cemetery in Cathedral City, California.
