Bertha Velmer Butcher Hill, 75, of Widen entered into rest Sunday, February 8, 2009, at her home.
She was born December 9, 1934, in Clay County, and was the daughter of the late Otis and Zella Gill. She was also preceded in death by two children Flora Mae Hill and Tina Lynn Hill.
Bertha is survived by her sons Gary Hill of Summersville, James Hill, Larry Hill both of Fredericksburg, Va., and Jerry Hill of Widen; daughters, Delores Tinney of Summerville, Donna Hill of Widen Joann Clements, Cynthia Reyes and Melinda Jones all of Fredericksburg, Va.; brother, James Gill of Clay; Beulah Dillon Clay; 25 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home, Clay, with Minister Freddie Schoolcraft officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Wilson Ridge.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
