Freda (Groger) Hayes, 86, of Kittitas, a life-long Kittitas County resident, died Tuesday at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital.
Born In Roslyn on February 9, 1899, Mrs. Hayes moved to the lower county with her parents, the late John and Johanna (Dietrick) Groger where they settled in the Woldale District in April 1908. She attended Woldale and Ellensburg schools.
She was married to Abe D. Hayes in Ellensburg on February 14, 1917. The couple lived at 103 Pierce Street in Kittitas since that time. Mr. Hayes died on May 31, 1968. And Mrs. Hayes moved to Royal Vista Nursing Home three years ago. She was a member of the Christian Science Church.
She is survived by one son, W. G. (Woody) Hayes of Kittitas; a grandson, David Hayes of Pullman; a sister, Selma Getchell of Seattle, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at High Valley Cemetery. Mr. Stephen Hinthorne will officiate. Memorials can be sent to the High Valley Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 173, Ellensburg. Viewing will be at Evenson Chapel until noon Saturday.
