MARGARETTE LOE ROSBOTTOM

Shreveport, LA - Margarette Loe Rosbottom slipped away very peacefully on Monday, December 2 at home with her two daughters, Margaret and Nancy, beside her. She was living her 100th year.

A celebration of her life will begin Saturday, December 7 at 2:00 p.m. in Frost Chapel of First Baptist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana. Visitation will precede the service from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. in the Parlor of the Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Ave. in Shreveport, Louisiana. Dr. Jeff Raines will officiate.

She lived a wonderful and charismatic life with style, grace and goodwill to others.

Margarette was born October 3, 1914, to Tom Thurmond Loe and Palas Sumlin Loe in Bienville Parish, Louisiana. The pioneer family became a lifelong resident of Shreveport when Margarette was six months old. They survived the great depression. She graduated from Fair Park High School and was a member of the Pep Squad. She sang on the radio station KRMD after school.

Margarette married William Harold Rosbottom, a C.E. Byrd High School football player and had three children, Harold Loe, Margaret and Nancy. They began a small family vending machine business which eventually became the largest vending company in North Louisiana. She served as its President and CEO for over 65 years, semi-retiring at age 95.

She dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were her life. She traveled the world but her most favorite trips were to Vail, Colorado at Christmas. She was a long standing member of East Ridge Country Club, Shreveport Yacht Club, life-time Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, 70 plus member of First Baptist Church and other civic and social organizations.

She has been a faithful supporter of the Shreveport Bossier Communities and believed them to be a great place for families and business opportunities.

She received many special recognitions including certificates from Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, Bossier City Mayor Lorenz Walker and Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover.

Margarette was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a great-grandson, Harold Christopher Truax II, two sisters, Ellen Loe Miller and Tommie Loe. She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Ann Rosbottom, of Shreveport, Nancy Truax McQuiddy, of Baton Rouge and Natchitoches, Louisiana; her baby sister, Nancy Virginia Johnson, of Sarasota, Florida; five grandchildren, Kimberly Marie Truax and Shelia Thompson, of Denton, Texas, William Frederick Truax IV and wife, Heather, of Frisco, Texas, Harold Christopher Truax and wife, Michelle, of Nacogdoches, Texas, Harold Loe Rosbottom, Jr., Amy Rosbottom Polk, of Dallas, Texas; twelve great-grandchildren, Katherine, Grace, Ashlyn and Abigail Truax, of Frisco, Texas, Lexie and Tatum Truax, of Nacogdoches, Texas, Kathryn Rosbottom Alessandro and husband, Scott (Mr. Wonderful), of New York City, New York, Lauren Elizabeth Rosbottom, of New York City, New York, William Christopher-Thompson Rosbottom, of Asheville, North Carolina, Harold Loe Rosbottom III, of Charlotte North Carolina, Carter Polk, of Dallas, Texas and William Christopher-Thompson Truax (Little Billy), of Denton, Texas; and her nieces, Tommie Miller Crowley and Kay Miller Mitchell, of Haughton, LA, nephews, Walter Curtis Miller, of Baton Rouge, William Max Johnson, Shreveport, LA, Jeffrey Earle Johnson, Sarasota, FL, Tim Keith Rosbottom, Birmingham, AL, Dr. Ronald Carlyle Rosbottom, Amherst, MA. Margarette Loe Rosbottom was very proud of her family and they adored her. She is also survived by many relatives and numerous friends especially Lena Lee and her life time very best friend, Ruby Murray.

She wishes to thank the State of Louisiana, the cities of Shreveport and Bossier; Dr. Alan Borne, The Glen, Corner Stone Hospital, Harmony Life Hospice, her Bossier-Shreveport Vending staff, especially Mae Jackson, Linda Wells and Gladys Capers.

Pallbearers will be the grandchildren: Kimberly, Rick and Chris Truax and Harold Rosbottom III; nephews: Bill Johnson and Curt Miller.

Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Loe Rosbottom, Jr., Jeffrey Earle Johnson, Morris Ray McQuiddy, Dr. Ronald Carlyle Rosbottom, Tim Keith Rosbottom, Le Petite Beignet and a host of angels.

Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church of Shreveport, Holy Angels or a charity of your choice .
