At the time of her death, Mrs. James was making her home with a daughter, Mrs. Erma T. Lewis, who is teaching school in the Natchitoches Parish school system. Her death was attributed to cancer.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Burroughs Community Church with the Rev. K. D. Mills and Rev. T. O. Arrington, pastor of the Sandy Bayou Baptist church, in charge.
Burial was made in the Welcome Home cemetery, east of Grayson on Holum Road, under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home of Columbia.
Survivors include a son, V. T. (Buck) Tarver, Jr., of ward 7; two daughters: Mrs. Erma T. Lewis of Natchitoches and Mrs. Lottie T. Wilkins, who is the visiting teacher for Caldwell Parish schools; four s[i]sters: Mrs. Frank Tarver and Mrs. Carmil [sic Carmel] Williams, both of Kelly; Miss Maggie [sic Mattie] Barber of Monroe, and Mrs. Roy Cook of Natchitoches; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Theo James, 65, died Dec. 21, in Natchitoches Parish Hospital after an illness of several months. She was the mother of Mrs. Clarence Lewis.
Funeral services were held in Burroughs Community Church with the Rev. Dee Mills and the Rev. T. O. Harrington officiating. Interment was in Welcome Home Cemetery, Grayson.
Mrs. James was of Columbia, but had made her home here with Mr. and Mrs. Lewis since her illness.
She is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Boyd Williams [sic Wilkins], visiting teacher for Caldwell Parish, and V. T. (Buck) Tarver.
