DEATH OF MRS G R FORD
Mother of Mrs George L Baker Will Be Buried in Augusta Today

Mrs Georgia Rucker Ford, who died in Augusta Thursday morning, will be buried in that city today. Mrs Ford was the mother of Mrs George L Baker of this city.

The Augusta Chronicle says of the death of Mrs Ford:

Geogia Rucker Ford, daughter of Tinsley W Rucker and Sarah Harris, was born in Elbert County, Geogia, Dec 11, 1837, and died in Augusta February 13, 1908.

Her young life was spent at Farm Hill, her father's plantation, which was the scene of the most generous hospitality and charming social life in which the beautiful and gracious young woman bore a notable part.

It was the typical ante-bellum life, which was broken by the war, when her father moved to Athens, where his large family were educated, and where, in December 1857, she married Capt James Meriwether Hull, the father of Dr James M Hull, one of Augusta's distinguished physicians, and of the late Asbury Hull, so loved and lamented in this city.

On April 25, 1868, she married Dr DeSaussure Ford and for more than 40 years has been an honored presence in Augusta. She was a gentlewoman of the old schiool, of a type peculiar to her time and section, and her grace and dignity, her ready sympathy and unselfish kindliness, her cordial and gracious hospitality have endeared her to a multitude of friends by whom her loss is mourned and from whom the deepest sympathy goes out to her family of children and grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs Ford was a woman of remarkable strength and had passed in health and vigor the alloted three score years and ten, and until her last illness took an active part in all the work of her church and of the many social and charitable organizations of which she was so prominent a member.

She is survived by her devoted children, Dr James M Hull, Mrs George L Baker of Columbia, SC, and Messrs Rucker and DeSaussure Ford of Augusta.

The funeral will occur Saturday morning at 11 o'clock from St Paul's church.
