Mrs Baker was the only daughter of the late Dr and Mrs Henry William DeSaussure Ford of Augusta, Georgia. She was born March 9, 1867. She is survived by two brothers, Dr J M Hull and Henry William DeSaussure Ford of Augusta; four nieces, Mrs E M Kaminer and Mrs R Beverly Herbert of Columbia, Mrs Eugene Trader of Augusta, and Miss Rucker Ford of Morganton, NC; four nephews, James W Hull Jr, Frank L Hull and Jepththa Hull of Augusta ad Lamar Hull of Philadelphia, Pa.
April 15, 1890, Miss Frank Ford, as she then was, married George L Baker of Columbia in the historic old St Paul's Episcopal church (since burned) of Augusta. It was one of the social events of the season. Mrs Baker had been one of the belles of Augusta and Columbia laid almost equal claim on her, for she was a frequent visitor and no ball or other social event of importance was complete here without her presence. Upon her marriage she became one of the social leaders of Columbia and her home one of great hospitality. Columbia has not had a more gracious hostess or delightful entertainer. She and her husband were devoted members of Trinity Episcopal Church and Columbia has never had a more generous man and liberal giver than the late George L Baker, who rests now in the Trinity churchyard, next to where his widow will be laid this afternoon.
Mrs Baker was unostentatious in her giving and her benefactions were little known. A memorial window to her husband adorns Trinity. It was dedicated in the fall of 1931 and was unveiled by her grandniece and namesake, Miss Frank Gualdo Kaminer, to whom she was devoted and who died last May. Mrs Baker was for many years a member of the Assembly and the Book Review Club. During the war as chairman of committees she was active in Liberty Loan dries and Red Cross work.
