Tada Sato passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on April 8, 2013. He joins his wife, Jane, who passed away one year earlier. He was born in Roy, Utah, on February 4, 1925. During his childhood, he worked on the family farm with his brother and two sisters. After serving his country in World War II with the 171st Infantry of the 442nd, he completed his undergraduate and medical education in 1955 at the University of Utah. He was an intern at San Diego County Hospital and completed his pediatric residency at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles in 1958. Tada practiced pediatrics at the Kaiser Hospital in Fontana for 30 years and served as Chief of Pediatrics for ten years. He married the love of his life, Jane Rae Akimoto, on October 29, 1949. He raised four children in Upland, California and took care of thousands of children during his career. He was blessed by enduring kindness and sincerely enjoyed the company of his closest friends and colleagues throughout his life. He was a positive influence and role model to his family, nieces, nephews, and people whose lives he touched. Tada enjoyed traveling, woodworking, fishing, stained glass, birds, reading, and time with his children and seven grandchildren. No memorial service is planned. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkview Presbyterian Church or any cause that you feel embodies Tada's spirit and love.
