Mrs. Bertha A. Anderson age 79, passed away Friday, November 9, 2001 at LakePark Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Mrs. Anderson was born November 9, 1922 in Anderson, SC, daughter of the late Joseph and Lisa Louise Telford Gilreath, she was a homemaker, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty-seven years, Henry W. Anderson.

Mrs. Anderson's greatest pleasure in life was caring for her home and family, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Anderson's love of flowers led to many enjoyable years in the Garden Club, she also enjoyed cooking and entertaining, her home was always considered an open house to her friends and family. Before moving to Lake Park, she was a longtime member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem, NC, having served on the committee to refurbish the church as well as in various other capacities. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, they experienced many wonderful trips together during their lifetime. Many of her friends described Mrs. Anderson as an elegant southern lady.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2001 at Faith United Methodist Church in the Village of Lake Park, with Rev. Lynn Upchurch officiating, interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greensboro, NC. At 3:00 p.m.

Survivors include three daughters: Victoria A. Medford, Henryetta A. Price, Deborah A. Powell all of Indian Trail, NC, Seven grandchildren: Carmen B. Price, Love M. Carpenter, Hugh L. Medford III, Darien T. Price, Mercedez, Price, Joseph F. Powell IV, Joshua A. Powell, three sisters: Mrs. Ruby Acker, Mrs. Mildred Evans, Mrs. Eunice Haney all of Anderson, SC.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by two brothers: Clyde Gilreath, Guy Gilreath and a sister: Annie Black.

Memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church, 3708 Faith Church Road, Indian Trail, NC 28079. The family will receive friends from seven until eight-thirty p.m. Tuesday at the McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe.
