Clarence Wilbur Toney (C.W.), 86, of Moneta, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2013. He was born January 22, 1927 a son of the late W.B. (Bill) and Mary Cundiff Toney. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Bernice Toney Stone (Steve); and brother-in-law, Donald Turner. C.W. was a member of Penhook United Methodist Church, a charter member of Scruggs Fire and Rescue Squad, dedicated school bus and special education driver for Franklin County Schools for many years.
Surviving are his wife, Iris Turner Toney; sons, Rick Toney and Eric Toney, of Moneta; three grandchildren that he dearly loved, Amanda Toney, Caitlyn Toney, of Bedford, Adam Toney, of Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas; nephew, Steve Stone (Susan), of Southport, N.C.; and niece, Sabrina Turner. Special thanks to the staff at Trinity Mission for their care during his stay.
Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2013, with the Rev. Dr. Judith Short officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Flowers are appreciated or memorial donations may be made to the Scruggs Fire and Rescue. His family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
