MILLPORT, Ala. — Jessie Ray Rainwater, 86, died Nov. 28, 2013, at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Services are Monday at 11 a.m. at Christian Chapel Church of Christ with Jessie Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Dowdle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Rainwater was born April 1, 1927, in Lamar County , Ala., to the late Raymond Redus and Margaret Ann Faulkner Rainwater. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was formerly employed with United Technologies. He was a member of Christian Chapel Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Leonard, Dempsey, Warren and Rex Rainwater. Survivors include his wife, Nettie Gaila Beard Rainwater of Millport; daughters, Donna Howard of LaFayette, Ala., and Pennie Doyle of Steens; son, Dennis Rainwater of Millport; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
