Lydia Hewett was born in 1635 in Warwick, Warwickshire, England, Her father Rev Ephraim Hewett b1591 was 44 and her mother Isabel Overton Huitt was only 39. She married Joseph Smith on April 20, 1656 in Windsor, Connecticut. They had five known children during their marriage. 0ne daughter named for her mother is listed below along with her brother. She lived during a period when people in colonial New England were subject to laws limiting what they could do on Sunday. She also lived in Connecticut during the Pequot War, when Puritans and the native Pequot's battled for control of the area. She passed away on March 3, 1712 in Windsor, Connecticut having lived a long life of 77 years, and was laid to rest in her hometown. She is this writers 7x G/Grandmother.
