Charles Leon Shoemaker, 80 of 2522 Baylor Place died on May 2, 2004 at Owensboro Medical Health Systems. He was born in St. Joseph, Ky. to the late Andrew James and Margaret Lee Shoemaker. He was retired from Green River Steel Corp. were he worked for 30yrs., also a member of St. Stephen Cathedral, past member of St. Vincent DePaul Assoc., Green River Steel Retirees Club, Hospitiality and greeter and usher at St. Stephen Cathedral and retired member of Local 4959 United Steel Workers. Enjoyed collecting antiques and old coins, and going to Ky. lake and being with family members. Preceded in death by his brothers; Andrew J. and Hubert Lee Shoemaker and sister Manie Rita Wendling. Surviving are his wife of 55yrs. of marriage; Mary Ruth Yates Shoemaker, sons and daughter-in-laws; Andy and Deb Shoemaker of Owensboro, Ky., Joseph Leon and Lisa C. Shoemaker of Owensboro, Ky., Charles Michael Shoemaker of Owensboro, Ky. and Kenny and Kathy Shoemaker of Owensboro, Ky., Daughters and son-in-laws; Shirley Kay and Van Brown of Owensboro, Ky., Margaret Lee Isbell of Owensboro, Ky., Mary D. and Don Bray, Jr. of Beaver Dam, Ky., Mary Rose Wenner of Owensboro, Ky., seventeen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren, one sister; Mary Rose Shoemaker of Owensboro, Ky. and seveal nieces and nephews. Services are at 10:00am. Wednesday at St. Stephen Cathedral, visitation from 4:00 to 8:00pm. Tuesday and 8:00 to 9:30am. Wednesday, prayers 6:00pm. Tuesday. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in St. Joseph, Ky. Reverend John Vaughan will be officiating.
