William "Bill" Allen, 78, of Helenwood, died August 3, 2001, at Fort Sanders Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville. Born in Campbell County, Tenn., June 2, 1923, he was preceded in death by his parents, Pryor and Minnie Bolton Allen; his wife, Elma Byrd Allen; one son, Ernie Allen, one brother, David Allen; and one sister, Dina Brewer. He was a longtime deacon and member of Helenwood Baptist Church, and was a member of Scott County Masonic Lodge 670 in Robbins. He is survived by one daughter, Mable Goad and husband, Charles, of Helenwood; one son, Craig Allen and wife, Debbie, of Helenwood; one daughter-in-law, Cookie Allen of Oneida; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one brother, Charlie Allen and wife, Leah; one sister, Rosella Cross; one brother-in-law, Ronnie Crump; one sister-in-law, Mae Jeffers; several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives. Masonic service was conducted August 4, 2001, by Scott County Lodge 670 of Robbins. Funeral service was conducted August 5, at Helenwood Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Cecil and Rev. Charles Goad officiating. Music was provided by Helenwood Baptist Church Choir and Rev. Charles Goad. Interment followed in Cooper Memorial Cemetery.
