Carrie Frances Butler Hamilton Wingate, 87, passed away Monday, November 18, 2013 at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center of complications.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home with Bishop Roger Snell officiating. Burial will follow at the Frankfort Cemetery. Visitation will also be at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 am until the time of service.
Mrs. Wingate was born in Scott County on January 7, 1926 to the late Loury Jesse and Lillie Musselman Butler. She is the former widow of Alex Hamilton. Carrie is survived by her husband, Ray E. Wingate; son, Alex Hamilton II (Angela) of Paulden, Arizona; two daughters, Linda Lue Kjeseth (Lee) and Faye Hamilton Oeltgen (Peter) both of Frankfort; and two brothers, Ray Butler of Frankfort and Roy Butler of Shelbyville. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Alex Scott Hamilton, Karen Hamilton Dewar, Lynn Ann Ellis, Troy Allen Jamison, Paula Yvonne Holland, Thomas Howard O''Daniel II, Catherine Ann O''Daniel Maready, Adam Ririe, Cody Ririe, and Heather Oeltgen; 26 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Wingate was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in many leadership capacities over the past 50 years. She was an avid genealogist and past President of the Kentucky Genealogical Society. For many years she was a member and past president of the Bryant Benson Homemakers Club. She was a family historian and amateur artist. She enjoyed traveling, painting, music, quilting and genealogy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Geneva Butler and Jeanne Butler; brothers, Stanley Butler, Chilton Butler, and John Robert Butler.
Thomas Butler, Troy Jamison, Scott Hamilton, Lloyd Wayne Hamilton, Michael A. Wingate, and Ian Hamilton will serve as pallbearers. Honorary bearers are Thomas H. O''Daniel II, Dr. Peter R. Oeltgen, Lee Kjeseth, and Joe Taylor Webb.
