Doris Hendrix Coble, 82, passed away on May 22, 2012. She is survived by her husband, J. Edwin Coble of Taylors, SC, son John Jr. of Greer, daughter Cindy and her husband Scott Newton, three grandchildren, John Tyler Coble, John Parker Newton, and Shelby Newton of Greer and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Joann Frazier of Madison, Alabama and Jacquelyn Quigley of Greensboro, and numerous nieces and nephews. Doris was the daughter of the late Grace and Jim Hendrix of Greensboro, NC where she was born and raised. She graduated from Greensboro Senior High in 1948, and attended The Woman's College in Greensboro. She played in the high school band and was active in the Mariner Scouts. She was retired from the Greenville Housing Authority. Doris and her husband have traveled extensively with several trips to Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji as well as Canada and many of the States. She is a member of Covenant United Methodist Church in Greer, SC.

Services will be held at Covenant on Thursday, May 24th at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Children's Home Society of NC, PO Box 14608 Greensboro, NC 27415.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Hospice Compassus and The Cottages at Brushy Creek for their loving care. Cremation Society of South Carolina
