John Keith Ends Life By Shooting Himself With Shot Gun. Despondency the Cause.
John Keith, one of the pioneer citizens of the southern part of Delaware County committed suicide last Thursday morning, while in a state of despondency. Mr. Keith had carefully planned the rash act, and used a shot gun as a means of self-destruction. He had been at the asylum in Independence at one time, and had been discharged, supposedly cured. Coroner A. D. Brown was called to the sene of the tragedy, and jury composed of Geo. White, H. P. Bancroft and Ward White returned a verdict of suicide due to Melancholia.
