Elena Carabajal Durán went to be with the Lord on Monday October 7, 2013 surrounded by her family.
Elena was born to Juanita Mez and Adolfo Carabajal on April 2, 1929.
Elena married Manuel Durán on March 2, 1948. They had 13 children, Juanita Sandavol, Teresa Guilez and her husband, Pate, Veronica Durán, Timmy Durán, Patricia González, Delores Estrada and her husband, Thomas, Diane Durán, Manuel Durán and his girlfriend, Lucy, Andy Durán and his wife, Corina, Sam Durán and his wife, Lillian and Sylvia Durán. Elena is also survived by two brothers, Joe Carabajal and his wife, Bertha and Adolfo Carabajal, 34 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Elena was preceded in death by her parents, Juanita and Adolfo, her husband, Manuel of 53 years, a son, George Washington, a daughter, Cathy Contreras, two grandchildren, Gregory Estrada and Geneieve Guilez, two sisters, Nela Moya and Genoveva González and brothers, Alfredo Carabajal and Lorenzo Carabajal.
Rosary will be recited by Toni Gutiérrez at St. Francis de Paula Church on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. A Christian mass will be held on Friday October 11, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. with burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Tularosa, NM.
