Mrs. Lula Schempp of Knox City, 97 years old, a native and one of the eldest residents of Knox County, died Dec. 12, 1963, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy where she was taken December 4 following a fall in her home. Funeral services were at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Knox City Christian Church, of which she was a member, and burial was in the Knox city Cemetery. She is survived only by nieces and nephews. Mrs. Schempp was born March 12, 1866, near Knox City, a daughter, and one of eight children of Joseph Porter and Louisa Sullivan Benner, and lived her entire life in and around Knox City. She was married Jan. 21, 1903, to William Schempp, who preceded her in death Nov. 21, 1948. Mrs. Schempp was the last member of her family having been preceded in death by her brothers, Chris, Joe and John Benner, and her sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Lewis, Mrs. Rosa McMillen, Mrs. Jessie Bunnell and Mrs. America Foltz.
