Memorial Services will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the Eckles Township Hall on County Rd #9, rural Bemidji, MN with Pastor Kent Dudley officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
She was born, the oldest of seven June 28, 1922 in Bemidji, MN to Arie L. and Helen (Schultz) Brooks. She went to the "Lab" School BSU.
She was fourteen when her mother died and lived on the dairy farm, keeping house for her father and siblings. As one by one of her brothers went into the service,they stopped farming. She worked at the Bemidji Laundry ironing white shirts and then later worked at the Student Union at BSU. She took several interesting trips, to Holland when she visited her many cousins, to Sweden and Nashville and Disney World.
She was a hard-working, independent lady who lived her whole life within a mile of the farm home where she was born, where the Walmart Store now sits, then Regency Park Apartments and finally at Gold Pine Home. She was "Auntie Lu" to her 26 nieces and nephews, grand nieces, nephews and others.
She is survived by her sister: Emily Lovering Brothers: Eugene (Verna) Brooks Jerry (Linda) Brooks Sister-in-law: Jeannine Brooks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Roland, Donald and Walter, infant Leonard, sister-in-laws Doris Brooks and Cindy Brooks, brother-in-law Steve Lovering, nephews Steven and Geno Lovering and niece Tonya Brooks.
