CUERO - Mrs. Lonnie Belle Towery, 89, of Cuero died in a Cuero nursing home Wednesday.

Services will be conducted at Freund Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Bob Hairston, pastor of First Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery.

Mrs. Towery was born Sept. 27, 1884, in Smithville, Miss., daughter of W.J. (Bud) and Frances Ashcraft Cowart. She married W.A. Towery in Smithville in 1903. He died in 1943.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Elgin Perry of Houston and Mrs. Irene Wood of Carlbad [sic] N.M.; five sons, Dr. W.R. Towery and C.O. Towery of Cuero, W.R. Towery of Houston, R. Kenneth Towery of McLean, Va., and Dr. D.C. Towery of Edna; two sisters, Mrs. Nettie Ray and Mrs. Pearl Ray of Mississippi; two brothers, Dr. Roland Cowart and O.E. Cowart of Mississippi, nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
