Lois Doss, 85, Kearney, Mo., passed away November 2, 2013, at Liberty Hospital. Lois was born in rural North Missouri, on July 24, 1928, to Richard and Bertha Tate. She graduated from Chillicothe High School. On July 19, 1947, she married Kenneth Doss. They moved to Kearney in 1948. Lois was the first employee of The Kearney branch of the Mid-Continent public library, where she was head librarian for 29 years. She especially enjoyed working with children. Her own grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest joy. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 10 siblings, Lawrence Tate, Gladine Gooch, Hester Campo, Gail Tate, Ruby Scanlon, Edgar Tate, Cecil Tate, Betty Callaway, Bertha Cramps, and Jerry Tate. She is survived by her son Keith, and wife Janice; two grandchildren, Melissa Relling and husband Cory, and Aaron Doss and wife Crys, three great-grandchildren, Maya Relling, Layla Relling and Mina Doss; and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all. Visitation will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home. Funeral services 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, also at the funeral home with burial following at Fairview Cemetery, Kearney.
