Glenn Armold
Glenn "Frenchie" Armold, 85, of Remington, died at 6:40 p.m. Friday, March 21, in St. Elizabeth Hospital. He had been ill and hospitalized one week.
Born March 25, 1900, in Newton County, he lied in Remington for a time, then moved to Monticello, where he lived several years before returning to Remington in 1976. He married in May 1924 to Esther Lightfoot in Whiting, and she survives.
Mr. Armold farmed in Remington for 19 years and was in the poultry business 16 years. He also managed Von Hollow Resort at Monticello for 10 years.
He was a member of the former Shiloh United Brethren Church near Remington and a member of Masonic Lodge 151 of Remington; Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis and Murat Shrine Temple of Indianapolis.
Surviving with the widow are two sons, Robert Armold of Fowler and Richard Armold of Remington; and two sisters, Mrs. Homer (Lillie) Stitz of Fowler, and Mrs. Bertha Pampel of Remington. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A daughter, one grandson, two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
Services were held at 1 a.m. Monday in Stitz Funeral Home, Remington, the Rev. Earl Poindexter officiating; interment Remington Cemetery.
