COOKEVILLE — Funeral services for Ila Mae Bean, 91, of Smyrna and formerly of Cookeville, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, Nov. 3, at the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bean died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at Azalea Court Assisted Living in Smyrna.

She was born March 16, 1922, in Putnam County to the late Thomas and Ova Grogan Daws Bandy.

Mrs. Bean was a member of Smyrna Church of Christ in Cookeville.

Her family includes three daughters and two sons-in-law, Barbara Gail and Frank Carmack Capley of Smyrna, Nancy Charlotte and Bobby Carter Fox of Hartselle, Ala., and Neana Delores Martin of Soddy Daisy; two sons, Gary LaVasher Bean and Gregory Lee Bean, both of Cookeville; several nieces and nephews; eight grandchildren, Alan Beasley, Daryl Glen and wife Linda Joyce Latta Fox of Hartselle, Cheryl Lea Fox and husband Patrick Brent McClendon of Hunstville, Ala., Tina Renee Martin and husband Leonard Frank "Bo" Gower of Harrison, Christy Gail Martin and husband Heston Shay Mercer of Chattanooga, Rhonda Sue Martin and husband Nicholas Scott Benton of Ringgold, Ga., Hannah Elizabeth Bean, and Kayla LeAnn Bean and husband Josh Cook of Cookeville; 16 great-grandchildren, Gabriel Lauren Beasley, Zachery Noah Beasley, Sarah Emily Fox of Hartselle, Harrison Carter McClendon and Andrew Grayson McClendon of Huntsville, Rayne Alexia Gower of Harrison, Canyon Day Mercer, Lily Rain Mercer, Violet Sky Mercer of Chattanooga, Asher Scott Benton of Ringgold, Ga., Jude Emory Boone of Cookeville, Sean Neal Nowak (in the U.S. Air Force, serving in Italy), Matthew Baron, Cassie Cunningham, Mitchell Cunningham and Brian Watson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Dyer Bean (whom she married May 9, 1945, and whom preceded her in death Dec. 29, 1999); a son, Thomas Dyer Bean Jr.; an infant grandson; a grandson, Barry Lynn Fox; a son-in-law, Ronald Luther Martin; seven sisters, Claudia A. Dyer, Lola V. Stewart, Flora Vickers, Cora Bandy, Dora Phillips, Arfie Flatt and Vola Gertrude Cowan Hunter; nine brothers, John Estus Bandy, Lonnie Oscar Bandy, James Cordell Bandy, Louis Edward Bandy, Frank Bandy and Hubert Dougless Bandy, and Walter Cecil Bandy, all of whom were residents of Cookeville, William Loffette Daws, who was a resident of Tallahassee, Fla., Daniel Webster Daws and James Early Daws, both of whom were residents of Woodville, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Bean's sons, sons-in-law, grandsons, grandsons-in-law and great-grandsons.

Bro. Johnny Fox will officiate the services.
