Thomas E. "Tom" Carney, Jr., 38, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, April 5, 1994, at Sacred Heart Hospital after being a patient for three months.
Born Oct. 30, 1955, in Cumberland, he was the son of Thomas E. Carney and LaVeda P. (Humbertson) Carney, both of Cumberland.
He was preceded in death by one brother, T. Edward Carney.
Mr. Carney was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a special aunt, J. Catherine Johnson, with whom he resided; one brother, Robert A. Carney, Frederick; one sister, Mary Catherine Hare, Cumberland; one nephew, Bruce W. Carney; and two nieces, Beth Ann Carney and Shayanne R. Hare.
Friends will be recieved at Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home by Rev. Milton A. Hipsley and Rev. J. Robert Welsh. Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park, Cumberland.
The family request contributions to the dialysis unit at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Pallbearers are Rick Cassel, Steve Phillips, Rick Swandol, Bill Plummer, Gary Hare and Lester Wilson.
