ATHELDA ("TODDY") FRANCOEUR SCHROEDER Athelda ("Toddy") Francoeur Schroeder, born on July 20, 1925 in Kankakee, IL, to Edward Joseph Francoeur and Victorine Jeanette Pommier Francoeur, was the fourth youngest of eleven children. Toddy passed away on October 31, 2013 in Oroville, CA. Toddy attended St. Joseph Seminary. She met her future husband, Norman C. Schroeder, while he was training for the Army Air Corp at Chanute Field, IL in 1941. They married in October 1944. (Toddy and Norman celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary last year just before his passing.) While Norman pursued a career as a Regular Officer, Command Pilot, in the Regular US Air Force, Toddy and the couple's three children accompanied Norman on two of his overseas tours of duty (in France and Turkey). Stateside, Norman's numerous reassignments (Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Texas) meant Toddy, a diligent homemaker, routinely set up the household in a new location every two or three years. After almost 23 years of Norman's military service they retired in 1963 to Santa Clara, CA, moving to Oroville, CA in 1980. Toddy enjoyed traveling with her family and was an avid painter, seamstress, and a great homemaker, cooking was her forte. She is survived by sisters Isabelle Martin and Blanche Boudreau Sebastiani and brother Ivan Francoeur, all of Kankakee, IL, daughter, Jo Anne S. Roters of Heinersreuth, Germany, sons, Norman C. Schroeder, Jr. of Los Alamos, NM and Thomas C. Schroeder of Oroville, CA, and three grandsons, Jean Marc Roters, Tyson N. Schroeder and Casey D. Schroeder. A funeral mass was held Friday, November 8th at 10:00 am at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Oroville, CA. Interment to be November 18, 2013 at Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery (Dixon, CA). Instead of flowers, we request donations be sent to Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250-0301 or The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 1311 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains NY 10605, (www.LLS.org).
