Shenandoah Herald - March 23, 1906
The community of Hamburg, Va., was grieved to learn of the death of Mrs. Hiram
Clem, on the 13th inst. Mrs. Clem was 62 years old and is survived by one
brother Mr. Ezra P. Koontz, and by seven children, Ezra, George and David Clem,
Mrs. Geo. Garber, Mrs C. C. Baseman, Mrs. T. Moreland, of this county, and Mrs.
S. C. Nicholas, of Washington, D.C.
Her body was laid to rest in the cemetery at Bethel Church beside that of her
husband who prceeded her to the spirit land just three weeks before.
The double affliction seems to fall heavily on those left beside, but they have
the heritage of a good example to inspire them.
Mr. and Mrs. Clem were now for their hospitality and kindness of heart and they
will be missed by a large circle of friends and relatives.
"There is no death, the stars go down
To rise upon some fairer shore
And deep in Heaven's jeweled crown,
They shine forevermore."
