On August 13, 1930, he was united in marriage to Emma W. Eilenstein and to this union one daughter was born. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Vester Rogers, and one sister, Vada Keen.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Emma, of the home; his daughter and son-in-law, Vivian and Donald Davis of Lebanon, Missouri; one granddaughter, Donica Basnett, and her husband, David, of Marina Valley, California; two great-grandchildren, Chase and Cherish Basnett of Marina Valley, California; one brother Virgil Rogers of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews and cousins; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He lived most of his life in the Laclede County area where he worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker and operated his own farm.
Vernon was a member of the Crossroads Freewill Baptist Church.
He was a devoted family man who enjoyed woodworking and tending his garden.
Vernon will be fondly remebered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and a caring friend.
Services for Vernon Rogers were held Wednesday, October 23, 1991, in Holman Chapel of Lebanon with Rev. Gary Borlase officiating. Music was by Perry Phillips, soloist and Jeannie Friebe, organist. Selections were "Amazing Grace" and "When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder." Burial was in Mount Rose Memorial Park. Serving as escorts were Norman Basnett, Jerry Jones, Rick Morris, Dennis Jones, Willard Keen, and David Rogers. Services were under the direction of Holman Funeral Homes of Lebanon.
