Miss Barbara J. Simpkins, a teacher in the Washington, Lowell, and Edison schools in Tacoma for some years, died Sunday [June 22, 1941] at the local hospital. She lived at 416 South L Street; was a native of New York City and a member of Fern Chapter No. 7, O.E.S., and of the Episcopal Church.
She leaves sisters, Mrs. Janet Harmon and Miss Charlotte Simpkins of Tacoma and Miss Nellie Simpkins and a brother, George of Juneau and a brother, H. C. [Hector Charles] of Tacoma, and three nieces. She had a wide acquaintance in Tacoma and Alaska during her many years of residence here and in Juneau. She was a daughter of Charles Simpkins and wife, pioneers in Tacoma. Funeral announcement will be made by Buckley-King.
