Samuel was the first of eight children born to Samuel and Lucy (Parker) Richardson. His siblings were Lucy (1783-1812), John Cummings (1785-1823), Betsey Parker (1787-1876), Achsa (1789-1819), Aaron Parker (1791-?), William (1794-1836) and Mary (1797-1859).

Samuel is last shown in the 1865 Massachusetts State Census as "84, Widowed, Farmer". His sister, Betsey Griffin (relict of Cyrus) is in the same household, as is his niece, Lucy E. Messer (daughter of his youngest sister, Mary) and her future husband, James N. Dowding.

He is buried next to the Messer family.

From contributor PatA (49212514):
I believe that Samuel Richardson married Hannah Poor Whittier on 21 May 1818. Hannah was born 4 Aug 1791 (daughter of William Whittier and Hannah Poor) and died at Methuen, as Hannah P. Richardson wife of Samuel, on 4 Oct 1824. They did not have children. At his probate, the only heirs of Samuel were siblings Aaron and Betsey.

Farewell dear brother
Thy sorrows are o'er (?)
May the wait be brief (?)
And be parted no more
