Audrey J. Pilcher

Audrey J. Pilcher, 76-year-old Woodward resident, died Friday, March 3, 2006 in the Woodward Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2006 in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Holdeman officiating. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Audrey Jean (Zahn) Pilcher was born March 5, 1929 on the family farm in rural Miltonvale, Kan. to Herman F. and Ethel Irene (Drown) Zahn. Audrey attended and graduated from Miltonvale High School in 1948.

Audrey was united in marriage to Norman G. Pilcher on May 24, 1948 in Miltonvale, Kan. They made their home in Abilene, Kan. before moving to Eunice, La. in 1956. In April of 1962 the family moved to Woodward where Audrey worked as a receptionist for Dr. Lloyd Peck for 28 years, retiring in December of 1989. Norman preceded her in death on May 5, 2000.

Audrey was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church. Audrey volunteered at the Woodward Senior Citizen Center and delivered meals for Panhandle Nutrition for many years. She was a member of the Cheerio Club, the Order of the Eastern Star, and volunteered wherever she was needed. Audrey worked for the Woodward County Election Board for a number of years. Audrey loved her family and enjoyed watching her grandchildren in their sporting activities. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life.

She is survived by her two daughters, Cindy Bassett and husband Mike of Woodward; Cathi Myers and husband Eldon of Woodward; grandchildren, Chad Harrison and wife Michelle of Guymon; Jason Harrison and wife Karen of Woodward; Kurt Myers and wife Chrissy of Mooreland; Mandi Hartness and husband Loren of Woodward; Andrea Nutter of Woodward; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Morgan, and Madison Harrison of Woodward; Michael and Cassie Morgan of Guymon; Taylor and Hunter Harrison of Woodward; Andrew Myers of Woodward; Clayton Akerman of Woodward; Bailey and Colton Nutter of Woodward; sisters, Mildred Paquette of Clay Center, Kan.; Kathryn Castor and husband Francis of Wichita, Kan.; other family and many good friends.

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association with the funeral home as custodian of the fund.
