Melvin Lee Haynie, 88, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019.
Born in Greer, SC, he was the son of the late Prue and Fannie Harris Haynie. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Haynie was a graduate of Forrest College and was a retired employee of Monsanto. He was a member of Union Grove United Methodist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Michael Haynie (Deborah), Michael Cooley, Stanley Haynie (Tammy), and Tim Haynie; one daughter, Tammy Hayes (Wayne);12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Sherlock and Doris Clinkscales; and two brothers, Malcolm Haynie and Earl Haynie.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Earlene Broome Haynie and Ruth Burgess Haynie.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 3, at Graceview Church conducted by Rev. Robbie Garrett. Burial will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 2:45 p.m. Sunday at the church, 120 Centerville Road, Anderson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Home for Children, 110 Calvary Home Circle, Anderson, SC 29621, or The Haven of Rest, 219 West Whitner Street, Anderson, SC 29624.
