Joel died on 13 July 1862 as a results of wounds received in this battle. He is buried near Devall's Bluff, Prairie Co Ark.
Joel (the 2nd) married Sarah Emeline Graham, the daughter of Jesse Abner Graham and Martha Jane Fannin on 6 Jan 1843 in either Jackson or Madison County, Ala.
Sarah was born 3 Nov 1828 in Princeton, Jackson Co Ala died 31 March 1908 in Copperas Cove Coryell Co TX, and is buried there.
